My name is Vishesh Gandhi, I am a cinematographer/ DoP and FTII graduate (2023), currently working across feature films, documentaries, and commercials.
Over the last few years, I have worked both as an Independent Cinematographer on Fiction and Non-Fiction projects. The journey has been creative and my work is being largely motivated by naturalistic lighting, visual storytelling/ layers, and creating images holding the emotional space of the narrative.
As a Cinematographer, I have shot an 8-episode mini web series and a feature-length documentary this year, and recently finished a project with Film Heritage Foundation and NFAI centred on film preservation and restoration. I also recently completed an independent hindi feature film in the capacity of Gaffer (and 1st AC), further strengthening my understanding of lighting execution and on-set workflow. I am currently shooting a short film in Kerala based on folklore and traditional art forms, which I believe is upscale in my work considering the scale of the film.
Some of the released projects I’ve been associated with include Aata Thambaycha Nay (Marathi feature) as 2nd AC, Heartbeats (web series) as 1st AC, and Kadaknath (Gujarati feature) as 2nd AC. I have also worked on the feature film Heero (working title) as 1st AC, produced by LUV Films.
In addition to long-format storytelling, I am actively working on commercials across Mumbai and other parts of India, collaborating with directors, agencies, and production teams on branded and digital content.
